The Ghibli Hybrid is a Maserati destined to make an indelible mark on the Brand's history: it is the first electrified car from the Brand. The link between a past of internal combustion engines and an electric future. The spark that ignites the journey into the future of a brand dedicated to innovation throughout its history. The underlying aim of the Hybrid version of the Ghibli is to enhance performance while saving fuel. It represents the Maserati approach to hybrid propulsion, an approach in keeping with the constructor's DNA. Ghibli Hybrid takes Maserati into the future without betraying the past. In a way, it even further highlights the keynote features of every Maserati: exceptional performance and luxury. The first hybrid engine in the history of the marque, where innovation and technology have always met with high performance automotive engineering, to drive Maserati forward towards a more sustainable future. Faster than diesel, greener than gasoline: the Ghibli Hybrid philosophy in a nutshell.

Beneath elegant looks that convey an impression of contemporary elegance, specially styled for this version with an exclusive colour scheme, a stunningly brilliant, glittering “Grigio Evoluzione" (for China, the launch version is Rosso Magma), lies this Ghibli version's innovative high-tech secret: the hybrid powerplant that generates 330 hp, propels the car to 100 km/hour in 5.7seconds and delivers a top speed of 255 km/h. A Maserati built entirely in Italy, at the Turin Production Hub.

Developed by a team of approximately one hundred people, Ghibli Hybrid is built around a modified version of the chassis and bodywork of the Ghibli V6, which in the Hybrid version combines a 4 cylinder, 2 litre engine with a 48 volt Hybrid system that also enables energy to be recovered when slowing and braking. Staying true to its DNA, Maserati has chosen a hybrid solution that aims, above all, to improve performance, while also saving fuel. The outcome achieved is almost perfect: even greater performance, with less fuel use. The same engine brilliance and performance level of every Maserati model are retained but consumption is reduced, making the Hybrid version of Ghibli even more efficient than those equipped with the gasoline or Diesel V6 engines. In practice, Ghibli Hybrid combines the best features of the two previous powerplants, offering the driver a car that is fun to drive, with the genuine Maserati sound. It squares the circle by delivering the smooth response of a 6 cylinder engine with the low-rpm torque of a diesel.  The hybrid system delivers the same pickup as the diesel version together with the power and acceleration of the 350 hp V6 gasoline engine, all combined with an impressive reduction in CO2 emissions, cut by 25% compared to gasoline and virtually the same as the diesel according to WLTP data.

The Maserati 48 volt hybrid system has four parts: BSG, battery, eBooster and a DC/DC converter. The BSG (Belt Starter Generator) does the job of an alternator, recovers energy during braking/deceleration and charges the battery in the boot, which in turn powers the engine's eBooster. The reason for installing an eBooster on the car is to back up the conventional turbocharger, working in tandem with it, to sustain the engine's power output at low rpm. The hybrid system's operating strategy ensures that the eBooster is always available, via battery or BSG, whenever it is needed.

The BSG and eBooster combination is unique in the hybrid sedan segment and provides an extra boost when the engine reaches peak rpm in sport mode, at which point the performance benefits can be fully enjoyed, while in normal mode it balances fuel use and performance.

In the Ghibli Hybrid, everything is focused on better performance. The hybrid car weighs less than the 6 cylinder engine equivalent, and has even better weight distribution, since the engine is front-mounted and the battery is placed in the rear. All designed to make the Ghibli Hybrid even more agile and fun to drive.

The internal mechanical components of the two litre 4 cylinder engine derived from FCA have been completely restyled by the Maserati Innovation Lab in Modena, to achieve greater torque and enable the turbocharger and e-booster to deliver even more power. The engine's electronic control system is also completely different, with a switch to a Bosch new-generation ECU. In practice, all that remains of the original engine are the dimensions and part of the cylinder head: it has been transformed into a true Maserati engine. The engine is built at Termoli.

The hybrid powerplant provides a CO2 emission level below that of the V6 Diesel and a fuel saving of 20% over the 350 hp V6 version, with undiminished performance. It is a very attractive alternative to the Diesel version on the European market, and gives access to a lower tax band in China.

The Maserati sound
The Ghibli Hybrid is a Maserati in every respect, including the sound, which, in spite of the hybrid propulsion, is still the distinctive growl of every Trident model. It is achieved without resorting to amplifiers, by just tweaking the fluid dynamics of the exhausts and adopting resonators, tuned to deliver the typical roar. Anyone on board a Maserati hybrid must still hear the unmistakable sound of a Maserati engine.

External styling
In terms of looks, the hybrid version of Ghibli features a number of details in dark blue, the colour universally adopted as the symbol of clean mobility. The three traditional air ducts on the front mudguard have a blue trim, and the Brembo brake calipers and the thunderbolt in the pillar logo are in the same colour.

Ghibli Hybrid debuts a new front grille that will make it even more elegant and unmistakable. This new front grille is characterised by a distinctive feature: the Maserati tuning fork. In fact, the updated front grille is based on this shape, and is finished in chrome in the GranLusso trim and in an even more aggressive, sportier Black Piano in the GranSport trim. Like the other cars in the Trident Brand's range, Ghibli also transforms its rear look, with the development of a new light cluster with a style known as boomerang design, inspired by many Maserati models from history and typical of the Brand's genetic identity. It is a distinctive feature of all MY21 cars and appears on all Ghibli MY21 trims. To emphasise the boomerang shape, the clusters have been produced with a state-of-the-art 3K injection moulding technology, thanks to which the unit has been given a three-colour lens: black around the edge, red in the middle and clear in the bottom section. The light cluster is produced in 2 versions: black for the captivating "Black pack" trims and a lighter shade for the more refined GranLusso trims, achieved by just varying the colour of the internal upper surround.

In Europe, Ghibli Hybrid is presented with a completely new Grigio Evoluzione colour, a cool, high-tech grey shade with blue overtones. This dual coat colour is inspired by not only various Maserati special editions but also high-performance luxury yachts. It is a colour that comes to life in sunlight, when the glint of the metal creates a special brilliance, highlighting the car's curves. It leaves little scope for chrome, which only appears on the handles and mudguards. In the Hybrid version, everything is Grigio Evoluzione, except for the features in anodised dark blue, a colour that conveys this car's spirit at a glance. In China, on the other hand, Maserati Hybrid, called Fenice, is presented in Rosso Magma, a colour that symbolises speed and high performance. This version retains the chrome handles and trims, together with the dark blue brake calipers, trims and thunderbolt.

Internal styling
The Ghibli entered the Premium sedan E segment in 2013, and immediately impressed with its tangibly superior cabin craftsmanship. A particularly distinctive feature was its unique, cockpit-inspired dashboard design that perfectly matched its driver-focused character, without compromising on refinement and sophistication. In the Hybrid version, the interior immediately transmits a sense of passion through an array of exclusive features, like the 12-way power sport leather front seats with integrated anti-whiplash headrests, the sport steering wheel fitted with aluminium gearshift paddles, and the Inox sport pedals.

Ghibli Hybrid is available in both GranLusso and GranSport trims with some differences on the various markets.

In models destined for the EMEA region, the sculpted sport seats are upholstered with a premium full-grain “Pieno Fiore” natural leather, with contrasting dark blue stitching and embroidered Trident on the headrests. The same styling is repeated on the door panels and instrument cluster; the dark blue, which creates a lighter, more contemporary cabin interior, also picks up the shade of the car's external details. In the GranLusso trim presented in China, the stitching of the seats, door panels and instrumental cluster is red.

The central console neatly accommodates an updated gearshift lever and the driving mode buttons, as well as the characteristic double rotary knob, a high-quality forged aluminium component that provides intuitive control of the audio volume and other functions.The console also features two cup holders, a 12V power socket and a climate controlled mobile phone compartment that contains an SD card reader, USB socket and aux-in port, through which the user can play music, watch films or view images. MY21 also sees the introduction onto Ghibli of the wireless smartphone charger (standard or optional depending on the market), inside the smartphone compartment.

Despite its coupé-like silhouette, the Ghibli provides class-leading front legroom and comfortable head and leg room for all occupants. The driver’s seat offers 6-way electric adjustment, while the GranLusso and GranSport trims both have standard 12-way power front seats. The rear seats can accommodate three people, providing optimised lateral support and guaranteed comfort even on longer journeys.

The boot load capacity is 500 litres. The interior packaging also incorporates large door pockets and an electrically lockable passenger glove box.

Trims
GranSport: this sport-oriented interior immediately transmits a sense of passion through an array of exclusive elements, like the 12-way power sport leather front seats with integrated anti-whiplash headrests, the sport steering wheel fitted with aluminium gearshift paddles, and the Inox sport pedals. The dashboard’s wood trim is finished in high-gloss Black Piano.

GranLusso: the luxury-oriented cabin exclusively features the Ermenegildo Zegna Silk interiors, with mulberry silk inserts, Radica open-pore wood trim on the dashboard and wood-finished leather steering wheel. The GranLusso trim also includes power-adjustable foot pedals and steering wheel, an electric rear sunblind, the assisted door closure system and an electrically lockable passenger glove box.

The Ermenegildo Zegna interior combines fine grain leather with 100% natural fibre Mulberry Silk inserts on the seats, door panels, roof lining, sunshades and ceiling light fixture. The silk, always anthracite in colour, can be combined with three different shades of luxurious fine leather: Black, Tan and Red.

In keeping with the Maserati tradition of excellence, customers are offered a wide range of interior materials from which to choose, the most luxurious of which would be the natural “Pieno Fiore” leather, available in Nero (black), Rosso (red) and Cuoio (tan) for comfort and sporty seats, each one with its own stitch options.

Premium fine grain leather (type B) is used on the upper and lower dashboard and on the armrest. The door panels also stand out for their unique, double-stitching pattern. “Pieno Fiore” is like no other leather used in the automotive industry for its natural, soft feel and is processed to develop a unique character throughout the years.

New generation Multimedia System
A MY21 in every respect, the Ghibli Hybrid is complete with all the technology upgrades featured on MY21 models, and thus also the new generation MIA (Maserati Intelligent Assistant) multimedia system. The heart of MIA the powerful Android Automotive operating system, which offers a completely new, innovative, higher-performing User Experience, with full personalisation to the driver's use preferences. The HD screen of the MIA system is enlarged from 8”4 with a ratio of 4:3 to 10”1 with a ratio of 16:10 and is now frameless for a more contemporary look, with almost all the surrounding bezel removed. This new high-resolution display with multi-touch function carries a new graphic interface that mixes black with a golden colour to enhance its elegance. The glass in the top of the display is now curved for a more elegant, less sharp-edged effect. This feature may be familiar from other sectors, but is here used for the first time in automotive design.

Always connected with Maserati Connect*
With effect from MY21 all Maserati cars are connected thanks to the new Maserati Connect program. Having the Maserati connected at all times enables an eye to be kept on the car's health, and Maserati Connect will alert the driver when a service is due, improving the customer care experience.

Maserati Connect also enhances safety and security, with assistance in emergencies and in case of car theft.

With a Smartphone or Smartwatch, drivers can always stay in contact with their Maserati thanks to the Maserati Connect app; this is also possible from home via their virtual personal assistant (Amazon Alexa & Google Assist). Through the MIA (Maserati Intelligent Assistant) multimedia system, the Maserati Connect connected services deliver a new experience for the driver and passengers.

Thanks to the integrated, connected navigation system, the driver always has the latest traffic information in real time, as well as constantly updated maps. MIA also enables activation of Amazon Alexa services or a Wifi Hotspot inside the Maserati.

Transmission
Like the other Ghibli versions, the Hybrid is equipped with the same eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, used also on the Quattroporte and Levante models.

The gearshift lever has been recently redesigned to feature an intuitive shift pattern that provides shorter travel and improved operation. The driver has the option to use the gearbox in either automatic (RND) or manual mode simply by shifting the lever from right to left, while a new ‘P’ button on top sets the transmission in parking mode.

With the gearshift lever introduced on the latest versions, the driving modes cluster in the centre console is extremely user-friendly. As in other versions, the ‘M’ button has been eliminated and the Start&Stop “off” button has taken its place.

The transmission caters for all demands, from comfort to fast gear shifting, and from minimised fuel consumption to low noise, vibration and harshness (NVH). The car also recognizes a variety of conditions, such as uphill or downhill driving, hard braking or driving through a corner, and selects the optimal gear and the most suitable gearshift style accordingly.

In Manual Normal mode the system automatically shifts up as the red line approaches, while in Manual Sport, gearshifts are quicker and sharper and the engine can be pushed to the red line without the system intervening.

Suspension
Double-wishbone suspension layouts are a race-bred tradition at Maserati. The Ghibli continues with this heritage but also incorporates some new technologies, featuring high-mounted all-aluminium double wishbones at the front to guarantee light and precise handling characteristics. The system’s geometry has delivered a quadrilateral architecture, which has enabled Maserati’s handling team to deliver a precise, communicative and comfortable steering feel.

The rear suspension employs a five-bar multi-link system with four aluminium suspension arms, and ensures exceptional ride comfort on the one hand and sports performance on the other. The Ghibli’s suspension package is based around a fixed-rate damping system to control the movement of its steel springs and anti-roll bars.

The Ghibli is also available with the Skyhook suspension system (standard in GranSport and optional in other trims) where all four dampers can be electronically controlled independently of each other.

The default mode for Skyhook prioritises comfort, becoming more sporty if the driver presses the suspension button. This extra damping stiffness, which was developed in both extreme test scenarios and on the racetrack, pushes the Ghibli’s handling characteristics to even higher levels. Essentially, the Skyhook system drastically reduces both longitudinal and lateral load transfers and minimises body roll to bring out the sportiest side of the car’s character. The computer system in control of the Skyhook dampers monitors a vast array of parameters, including speed, lateral and longitudinal acceleration, individual wheel movements, body movement and damper dynamics. Adjusting to suit the suspension mode selected by the driver, the system delivers the perfect damping mode for each wheel almost instantly. Skyhook suspension is included as standard in all GranSport versions.

Sound system
An 8-speaker, 280 W audio system by Harman Kardon is standard on the baseline Ghibli Hybrid. The Harman Kardon Premium and Bowers & Wilkins Premium Surround Sound systems are available as options.

Harman Kardon Premium Sound System with 10 speakers and a 900 W amplifier. The extra watts compared to the standard system, the black-finish grille pattern on the door woofers with Harman Kardon logo, and the new 12-channel amplifier, together with a high-performance subwoofer, represent the best trade-off between sound clarity and performance.

Bowers & Wilkins Premium Surround Sound System for those who demand the finest hi-fi equipment. Maserati offers the Bowers & Wilkins Premium Surround Sound System, with 15 speakers, a 1,280 W amplifier and perfectly-configured QuantumLogic™ Surround.

The Bowers & Wilkins Premium Surround Sound System features a central 100 mm Kevlar cone for mid-range sound and three 25 mm tweeters at the centre and sides of the dashboard. The front doors house a 165 mm woofer and 100 mm Kevlar cone mid-range speaker, while the rear doors each carry a 165 mm Kevlar woofer and 25 mm tweeter. The rear shelf has two 100 mm Kevlar mid-ranges and a 315x200 mm subwoofer.

The system includes the Clari-Fi music restoration function as standard, which scans all types of compressed audio files for lost music details, intelligently corrects waveform deficiencies and restores high-fidelity by removing unwanted distortions.

Climate Control with Air Quality Sensor
The Ghibli is equipped with Air Quality Sensor, a feature that substantially improves the comfort of both the driver and passenger.

The system combines an intelligent sensor and a signal analysis system that calculates the external pollution levels and prevents polluted air and toxic gases from entering the cabin.

The air flow distribution control, which is fully separated for driver and front passenger, has been revised and is now more customizable. There is also a digital “sync" button for left and right side settings and a numeric display for the selected level on the fan power bar.

Keyless Entry
The aluminium key reflects the Ghibli style and incorporates Keyless Go technology that enables you to open the doors or boot via the handles, without touching the key fob. Once inside the car, all it takes is a press of the ignition button to bring the engine roaring to life.

Assisted Door Closure
Thanks to an electric actuator and a sensor that detects when the door is ajar, this system quietly draws each of the four doors to a close when left slightly open, increasing occupants' peace of mind and comfort, especially when there are children in the rear seats. It is also activated whenever the door is manually closed, ensuring it is properly shut.

Electrically Lockable Glovebox
A Valet Mode* is available on the touch screen menu that electrically locks the glovebox on the passenger’s side. In Valet Mode, the glovebox is only accessible by inserting a four-digit PIN.

Power Boot Lid with "Hands-Free" Control
Thanks to electric actuators and a motorised latch, it’s possible to open or close the lightweight boot lid automatically using the key fob, by pressing a button on the door panel or by just moving a foot underneath the rear bumper.

This function, particularly useful for accessing the boot when your hands are full, only works when the system detects the presence of your key, to ensure maximum security.

Chassis built around a steel cell
The Ghibli chassis has been precisely designed to meet the demands of dynamic performance and long distance comfort, required by Maserati drivers.

Based around a rigid and extremely secure steel cell, this chassis uses an array of different steel and aluminium alloys, each designated a precise task to maximize strength, minimize weight and retain the sports sedan’s perfect weight distribution.

The front of the chassis features an aluminium casting with a reinforced cross-strut which helps deliver outstanding rigidity in every direction, while the rear is made from rolled steel.

Accordingly, all four doors and the bonnet are made of aluminium. Ultra-light weight magnesium is used in the dashboard’s cross strut.

Brembo Dual Cast Brakes
Dual Cast technology, pioneered by Maserati, combines the strength of cast iron with the lightness of aluminium to reduce unsprung mass and, therefore, increase handling prowess. These brakes have a large swept area, highly efficient cooling and are designed for consistent performance in sports driving situations.

Ghibli Hybrid is fitted with Dual Cast 360x32 mm ventilated and cross-drilled brake discs with six-piston fixed alloy Brembo calipers on the front axle, while the rear axle is fitted with four-piston fixed alloy 345x28 mm Brembo calipers.

At a speed of 100 km/h, Ghibli Hybrid can stop in just 35.5 metres. But stopping power is only one measure of overall braking performance. The collaboration with Brembo also concentrated on optimising the acoustic comfort of the Ghibli’s braking systems. Besides being powerful, the Maserati brake calipers have also always added a significant touch of style. The Ghibli Hybrid has dark blue brake calipers.

Electric Power Steering (EPS)
Introduction of EPS (Electric Power Steering) has improved the car’s handling and comfort while better supporting the selectable driving modes and enabling the optionally available active Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.

With an electronically-controlled electric actuator on the rack and pinion steering, EPS is light, simple, low-maintenance, easier to fine-tune and doesn’t affect engine power. While retaining the razor-sharp handling typical of every Maserati, it offers improved feedback of road irregularities and peace of mind in parking and low-speed manoeuvres.

Driving Experience

Integrated Vehicle Control and ADAS
The Integrated Vehicle Control (IVC) function is incorporated in the Maserati Stability Program control for enhanced active safety and driving dynamics, while the optional active Advanced Driver Assistance Systems provide Level 2 autonomous driving technology.

By preventing - instead of simply correcting - errors which lead to a loss of car control, the Integrated Vehicle Control (IVC) system, developed in collaboration with Bosch, provides enhanced active safety and driving dynamics. It therefore also ensures unique performances and emotions at the wheel.

IVC uses a smart, feed-forward controller that predicts driving situations in advance and adapts the engine speed and brakes accordingly. IVC intervenes more smoothly and with less noise than a traditional ESP, ensures better car balance and traction at the limits of the car’s dynamics and employs intelligent torque vectoring to optimise lateral dynamics in a natural way even when MSP is off. In dynamic test manoeuvres, like slalom and lane change, IVC has demonstrated higher drive-through speed and improved racetrack lap times.

Maserati Stability Program (MSP)
Developed in the most extreme test conditions, the MSP uses a wide array of sensors for early detection and intervention. If skidding is detected, the system reduces the engine’s torque output and may activate the brakes with finely varied inputs to restore the car’s stability within milliseconds. The MSP integrates sub-systems such as ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR), Engine brake torque control (MSR), which prevents wheels from locking when downshifting on low-grip surfaces, Brake Assist System (BAS) and the Integrated Vehicle Control (IVC).

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
Level 2 ADAS, such as Highway Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, and Lane Keeping Assist mark a major step towards semi-autonomous driving. In the optional package is also included the efficient Traffic Sign Recognition.

Although ADAS are valuable assets for ensuring a safer driving experience, Maserati also remains faithful to its core philosophy as a manufacturer of race-bred grand touring cars with superior dynamics capable of offering an unparalleled driving experience. The introduction of the Active ADAS package in the Ghibli range makes the car even safer in a variety of traffic conditions, but the driver should remain 100% in control at all times.

Active Driving Assist: this is an evolution of Highway Assist, introduced with MY18. A “hands-on” function (the driver is required to stay in control of the car at all times), it is intended for use on any kind of well-maintained road. While previous versions were only usable on highways, today it is available on any well-maintained road at speeds up to 145 km/h with the Adaptive Cruise Control system activated: it reduces driver fatigue and consequently enhances active safety by allowing the car to keep itself centred in its lane and to adapt its pre-selected speed in full autonomy.

The system employs a radar unit and a forward-looking camera and works with the EPS to control the direction of the car. The multi-function camera detects horizontal road markings and calculates the distance and speed of the preceding vehicle. Highway Assist includes a radio that provides road information, and a ‘hands on wheel’ detection system. The driver can override the system at any time.

Lane Keeping Assist (LKA): it keeps the car centred in its lane with direct input to the Electric Power Steering while the instrument panel display shows the specific status. When the Visual & Haptic box is selected in the touchscreen display, LKA actively steps in with corrective steering torque.

LKA uses a forward-looking camera that detects lane markers to determine the car’s position, as well as a radar for data processing. The system works at speeds between 60 km/h and 180 km/h and when the indicators are on, it is deactivated.

Active Blind Spot Assist (ABSA): a system that attempts to prevent a collision during lane change by using two radar-based sensors to monitor blind spot areas. As well as providing an LED and acoustic warning, ABSA can communicate with the EPS to intervene with steering torque and prevent a possible collision.

Traffic Sign Recognition*: essentially, TSR prevents unintended speeding, providing the driver with real time information on the instrument panel about the current speed limit. Traffic Sign Recognition identifies speed limits for specific conditions, such as rain, fog or hour-specific limits, and uses map data from the navigation system to inform the driver in case actual signs are non-existent, invisible or not recognisable by the camera system.

Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function: when activated (between 30 and 210 km/h), ACC constantly monitors the space between the Ghibli and the vehicle ahead, maintaining a safe pre-set distance. If traffic slows or another vehicle moves in front, it slows the car down by making it coast or by engaging the brakes. Thanks to the Stop & Go function, the car will adjust to the target vehicle’s speed until it comes to a complete stop and will set off automatically if the stop is shorter than two seconds.

Forward Collision Warning Plus (FCW Plus): the FCW Plus system monitors vehicles ahead by means of a camera and warns the driver through visual and acoustic alerts when they are in danger of a possible rear-end collision.

Advanced Brake Assist (ABA): if the driver brakes and the system determines that they have not applied sufficient brake force, ABA will compensate for this.

Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB): AEB is an active system designed to avoid collision or minimise damage. A potential collision is identified by the ACC radar and a forward-looking camera. The driver is provided with visual and acoustic alerts as an early warning to start braking. If they do not take action, the system will brake autonomously to help slow the vehicle down and minimise the impact.

Rear-view camera with dynamic lines
Located above the number plate, the camera turns on automatically when the reverse gear is selected and shows the area behind the car on the new format high resolution display. The camera utilises the rear parking sensors to alert the driver both visually and acoustically about potential obstructions. The dynamic grid lines represent the maximum width of the car and its projected path based on the steering angle signal.

Surround View Camera
The Surround View Camera system, optional or standard depending on markets, uses four cameras in total – two lateral cameras housed underneath the side mirrors, as well as a forward- and rear-looking camera – to provide a clear 360° bird’s eye view of the car on the high-resolution display. It can be activated automatically by shifting into reverse gear, or manually via the button on the display. It provides five different selectable views. It also shows open doors and parking guide lines.

Rear Cross Path
This function issues alerts when reversing out of a parking space. It is intended to help drivers reverse out of parking spaces when their view of oncoming vehicles is blocked. Using sensors located on either side of the rear bumper, it detects any vehicles or objects moving towards the side of the vehicle at speeds between approximately 1 km/h and 16 km/h.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
TPMS is available as standard on all Ghibli versions. The system monitors the tyre pressure with a sensor mounted inside the rim as part of the valve. In the event of a puncture or a change in tyre pressure, the system notifies the driver with visual and acoustic warnings.

Active Speed Limiter
This function, available on all* Ghibli versions, allows the driver to set a maximum speed limit using a button on the steering wheel. If the driver decides to override the limit, they just have to ‘kick down’ and thus exceed the set speed.

Passive safety
To further enhance occupant safety, Maserati Ghibli Hybrid uses hot-formed steels in critical areas of the passenger compartment, while using aluminium in other areas to save weight.

In particular, the front of the passenger compartment features hot-moulded steel components, with a magnesium dashboard strut to save weight, while the rear is stiffened with high-strength steel. The crash bars at the front and rear of the car are made of extruded aluminium, while the doors and bonnet are in aluminium.

Maserati’s engineers added a third crash-load path to the front structure of the car to help dissipate load and distribute the forces on the car to guarantee the stability of the body structure in frontal impacts.

The Ghibli is equipped with seven airbags and anti-whiplash front headrests. At the front, two-stage airbags are concealed inside the steering wheel and dashboard to protect the head in frontal impact crashes, while a knee airbag protects the driver’s legs and reduces femur load in an impact.

The driver’s and front passenger’s chest and hips are further protected by the side airbags beneath the seat leather. The sides of their heads are protected by two head curtain airbags mounted in the roof of the car, next to the B-pillar. The curtain airbag protects the heads of the front and rear occupants against lateral impact.

It represents the Maserati approach to hybrid propulsion, an approach in keeping with the constructor's DNA. Ghibli Hybrid takes Maserati into the future without betraying the past. In a way, it even further highlights the keynote features of every Maserati: exceptional performance and luxury. The first hybrid engine in the history of the marque, where innovation and technology have always met with high performance automotive engineering, to drive Maserati forward towards a more sustainable future. Faster than diesel, greener than gasoline: the Ghibli Hybrid philosophy in a nutshell.

Beneath elegant looks that convey an impression of contemporary elegance, specially styled for this version with an exclusive colour scheme, a stunningly brilliant, glittering “Grigio Evoluzione" (for China, the launch version is Rosso Magma), lies this Ghibli version's innovative high-tech secret: the hybrid powerplant that generates 330 hp, propels the car to 100 km/hour in 5.7seconds and delivers a top speed of 255 km/h. A Maserati built entirely in Italy, at the Turin Production Hub.

Developed by a team of approximately one hundred people, Ghibli Hybrid is built around a modified version of the chassis and bodywork of the Ghibli V6, which in the Hybrid version combines a 4 cylinder, 2 litre engine with a 48 volt Hybrid system that also enables energy to be recovered when slowing and braking. Staying true to its DNA, Maserati has chosen a hybrid solution that aims, above all, to improve performance, while also saving fuel. The outcome achieved is almost perfect: even greater performance, with less fuel use. The same engine brilliance and performance level of every Maserati model are retained but consumption is reduced, making the Hybrid version of Ghibli even more efficient than those equipped with the gasoline or Diesel V6 engines. In practice, Ghibli Hybrid combines the best features of the two previous powerplants, offering the driver a car that is fun to drive, with the genuine Maserati sound. It squares the circle by delivering the smooth response of a 6 cylinder engine with the low-rpm torque of a diesel.  The hybrid system delivers the same pickup as the diesel version together with the power and acceleration of the 350 hp V6 gasoline engine, all combined with an impressive reduction in CO2 emissions, cut by 25% compared to gasoline and virtually the same as the diesel according to WLTP data.

The Maserati 48 volt hybrid system has four parts: BSG, battery, eBooster and a DC/DC converter. The BSG (Belt Starter Generator) does the job of an alternator, recovers energy during braking/deceleration and charges the battery in the boot, which in turn powers the engine's eBooster. The reason for installing an eBooster on the car is to back up the conventional turbocharger, working in tandem with it, to sustain the engine's power output at low rpm. The hybrid system's operating strategy ensures that the eBooster is always available, via battery or BSG, whenever it is needed.

The BSG and eBooster combination is unique in the hybrid sedan segment and provides an extra boost when the engine reaches peak rpm in sport mode, at which point the performance benefits can be fully enjoyed, while in normal mode it balances fuel use and performance.

In the Ghibli Hybrid, everything is focused on better performance. The hybrid car weighs less than the 6 cylinder engine equivalent, and has even better weight distribution, since the engine is front-mounted and the battery is placed in the rear. All designed to make the Ghibli Hybrid even more agile and fun to drive.

The internal mechanical components of the two litre 4 cylinder engine derived from FCA have been completely restyled by the Maserati Innovation Lab in Modena, to achieve greater torque and enable the turbocharger and e-booster to deliver even more power. The engine's electronic control system is also completely different, with a switch to a Bosch new-generation ECU. In practice, all that remains of the original engine are the dimensions and part of the cylinder head: it has been transformed into a true Maserati engine. The engine is built at Termoli.

The hybrid powerplant provides a CO2 emission level below that of the V6 Diesel and a fuel saving of 20% over the 350 hp V6 version, with undiminished performance. It is a very attractive alternative to the Diesel version on the European market, and gives access to a lower tax band in China.

The Maserati sound
The Ghibli Hybrid is a Maserati in every respect, including the sound, which, in spite of the hybrid propulsion, is still the distinctive growl of every Trident model. It is achieved without resorting to amplifiers, by just tweaking the fluid dynamics of the exhausts and adopting resonators, tuned to deliver the typical roar. Anyone on board a Maserati hybrid must still hear the unmistakable sound of a Maserati engine.

External styling
In terms of looks, the hybrid version of Ghibli features a number of details in dark blue, the colour universally adopted as the symbol of clean mobility. The three traditional air ducts on the front mudguard have a blue trim, and the Brembo brake calipers and the thunderbolt in the pillar logo are in the same colour.

Ghibli Hybrid debuts a new front grille that will make it even more elegant and unmistakable. This new front grille is characterised by a distinctive feature: the Maserati tuning fork. In fact, the updated front grille is based on this shape, and is finished in chrome in the GranLusso trim and in an even more aggressive, sportier Black Piano in the GranSport trim. Like the other cars in the Trident Brand's range, Ghibli also transforms its rear look, with the development of a new light cluster with a style known as boomerang design, inspired by many Maserati models from history and typical of the Brand's genetic identity. It is a distinctive feature of all MY21 cars and appears on all Ghibli MY21 trims. To emphasise the boomerang shape, the clusters have been produced with a state-of-the-art 3K injection moulding technology, thanks to which the unit has been given a three-colour lens: black around the edge, red in the middle and clear in the bottom section. The light cluster is produced in 2 versions: black for the captivating "Black pack" trims and a lighter shade for the more refined GranLusso trims, achieved by just varying the colour of the internal upper surround.

In Europe, Ghibli Hybrid is presented with a completely new Grigio Evoluzione colour, a cool, high-tech grey shade with blue overtones. This dual coat colour is inspired by not only various Maserati special editions but also high-performance luxury yachts. It is a colour that comes to life in sunlight, when the glint of the metal creates a special brilliance, highlighting the car's curves. It leaves little scope for chrome, which only appears on the handles and mudguards. In the Hybrid version, everything is Grigio Evoluzione, except for the features in anodised dark blue, a colour that conveys this car's spirit at a glance. In China, on the other hand, Maserati Hybrid, called Fenice, is presented in Rosso Magma, a colour that symbolises speed and high performance. This version retains the chrome handles and trims, together with the dark blue brake calipers, trims and thunderbolt.

Internal styling
The Ghibli entered the Premium sedan E segment in 2013, and immediately impressed with its tangibly superior cabin craftsmanship. A particularly distinctive feature was its unique, cockpit-inspired dashboard design that perfectly matched its driver-focused character, without compromising on refinement and sophistication. In the Hybrid version, the interior immediately transmits a sense of passion through an array of exclusive features, like the 12-way power sport leather front seats with integrated anti-whiplash headrests, the sport steering wheel fitted with aluminium gearshift paddles, and the Inox sport pedals.

Ghibli Hybrid is available in both GranLusso and GranSport trims with some differences on the various markets.

In models destined for the EMEA region, the sculpted sport seats are upholstered with a premium full-grain “Pieno Fiore” natural leather, with contrasting dark blue stitching and embroidered Trident on the headrests. The same styling is repeated on the door panels and instrument cluster; the dark blue, which creates a lighter, more contemporary cabin interior, also picks up the shade of the car's external details. In the GranLusso trim presented in China, the stitching of the seats, door panels and instrumental cluster is red.

The central console neatly accommodates an updated gearshift lever and the driving mode buttons, as well as the characteristic double rotary knob, a high-quality forged aluminium component that provides intuitive control of the audio volume and other functions.The console also features two cup holders, a 12V power socket and a climate controlled mobile phone compartment that contains an SD card reader, USB socket and aux-in port, through which the user can play music, watch films or view images. MY21 also sees the introduction onto Ghibli of the wireless smartphone charger (standard or optional depending on the market), inside the smartphone compartment.

Despite its coupé-like silhouette, the Ghibli provides class-leading front legroom and comfortable head and leg room for all occupants. The driver’s seat offers 6-way electric adjustment, while the GranLusso and GranSport trims both have standard 12-way power front seats. The rear seats can accommodate three people, providing optimised lateral support and guaranteed comfort even on longer journeys.

The boot load capacity is 500 litres. The interior packaging also incorporates large door pockets and an electrically lockable passenger glove box.

Trims
GranSport: this sport-oriented interior immediately transmits a sense of passion through an array of exclusive elements, like the 12-way power sport leather front seats with integrated anti-whiplash headrests, the sport steering wheel fitted with aluminium gearshift paddles, and the Inox sport pedals. The dashboard’s wood trim is finished in high-gloss Black Piano.

GranLusso: the luxury-oriented cabin exclusively features the Ermenegildo Zegna Silk interiors, with mulberry silk inserts, Radica open-pore wood trim on the dashboard and wood-finished leather steering wheel. The GranLusso trim also includes power-adjustable foot pedals and steering wheel, an electric rear sunblind, the assisted door closure system and an electrically lockable passenger glove box.

The Ermenegildo Zegna interior combines fine grain leather with 100% natural fibre Mulberry Silk inserts on the seats, door panels, roof lining, sunshades and ceiling light fixture. The silk, always anthracite in colour, can be combined with three different shades of luxurious fine leather: Black, Tan and Red.

In keeping with the Maserati tradition of excellence, customers are offered a wide range of interior materials from which to choose, the most luxurious of which would be the natural “Pieno Fiore” leather, available in Nero (black), Rosso (red) and Cuoio (tan) for comfort and sporty seats, each one with its own stitch options.

Premium fine grain leather (type B) is used on the upper and lower dashboard and on the armrest. The door panels also stand out for their unique, double-stitching pattern. “Pieno Fiore” is like no other leather used in the automotive industry for its natural, soft feel and is processed to develop a unique character throughout the years.

New generation Multimedia System
A MY21 in every respect, the Ghibli Hybrid is complete with all the technology upgrades featured on MY21 models, and thus also the new generation MIA (Maserati Intelligent Assistant) multimedia system. The heart of MIA the powerful Android Automotive operating system, which offers a completely new, innovative, higher-performing User Experience, with full personalisation to the driver's use preferences. The HD screen of the MIA system is enlarged from 8”4 with a ratio of 4:3 to 10”1 with a ratio of 16:10 and is now frameless for a more contemporary look, with almost all the surrounding bezel removed. This new high-resolution display with multi-touch function carries a new graphic interface that mixes black with a golden colour to enhance its elegance. The glass in the top of the display is now curved for a more elegant, less sharp-edged effect. This feature may be familiar from other sectors, but is here used for the first time in automotive design.

Always connected with Maserati Connect*
With effect from MY21 all Maserati cars are connected thanks to the new Maserati Connect program. Having the Maserati connected at all times enables an eye to be kept on the car's health, and Maserati Connect will alert the driver when a service is due, improving the customer care experience.

Maserati Connect also enhances safety and security, with assistance in emergencies and in case of car theft.

With a Smartphone or Smartwatch, drivers can always stay in contact with their Maserati thanks to the Maserati Connect app; this is also possible from home via their virtual personal assistant (Amazon Alexa & Google Assist). Through the MIA (Maserati Intelligent Assistant) multimedia system, the Maserati Connect connected services deliver a new experience for the driver and passengers.

Thanks to the integrated, connected navigation system, the driver always has the latest traffic information in real time, as well as constantly updated maps. MIA also enables activation of Amazon Alexa services or a Wifi Hotspot inside the Maserati.

Transmission
Like the other Ghibli versions, the Hybrid is equipped with the same eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, used also on the Quattroporte and Levante models.

The gearshift lever has been recently redesigned to feature an intuitive shift pattern that provides shorter travel and improved operation. The driver has the option to use the gearbox in either automatic (RND) or manual mode simply by shifting the lever from right to left, while a new ‘P’ button on top sets the transmission in parking mode.

With the gearshift lever introduced on the latest versions, the driving modes cluster in the centre console is extremely user-friendly. As in other versions, the ‘M’ button has been eliminated and the Start&Stop “off” button has taken its place.

The transmission caters for all demands, from comfort to fast gear shifting, and from minimised fuel consumption to low noise, vibration and harshness (NVH). The car also recognizes a variety of conditions, such as uphill or downhill driving, hard braking or driving through a corner, and selects the optimal gear and the most suitable gearshift style accordingly.

In Manual Normal mode the system automatically shifts up as the red line approaches, while in Manual Sport, gearshifts are quicker and sharper and the engine can be pushed to the red line without the system intervening.

Suspension
Double-wishbone suspension layouts are a race-bred tradition at Maserati. The Ghibli continues with this heritage but also incorporates some new technologies, featuring high-mounted all-aluminium double wishbones at the front to guarantee light and precise handling characteristics. The system’s geometry has delivered a quadrilateral architecture, which has enabled Maserati’s handling team to deliver a precise, communicative and comfortable steering feel.

The rear suspension employs a five-bar multi-link system with four aluminium suspension arms, and ensures exceptional ride comfort on the one hand and sports performance on the other. The Ghibli’s suspension package is based around a fixed-rate damping system to control the movement of its steel springs and anti-roll bars.

The Ghibli is also available with the Skyhook suspension system (standard in GranSport and optional in other trims) where all four dampers can be electronically controlled independently of each other.

The default mode for Skyhook prioritises comfort, becoming more sporty if the driver presses the suspension button. This extra damping stiffness, which was developed in both extreme test scenarios and on the racetrack, pushes the Ghibli’s handling characteristics to even higher levels. Essentially, the Skyhook system drastically reduces both longitudinal and lateral load transfers and minimises body roll to bring out the sportiest side of the car’s character. The computer system in control of the Skyhook dampers monitors a vast array of parameters, including speed, lateral and longitudinal acceleration, individual wheel movements, body movement and damper dynamics. Adjusting to suit the suspension mode selected by the driver, the system delivers the perfect damping mode for each wheel almost instantly. Skyhook suspension is included as standard in all GranSport versions.

Sound system
An 8-speaker, 280 W audio system by Harman Kardon is standard on the baseline Ghibli Hybrid. The Harman Kardon Premium and Bowers & Wilkins Premium Surround Sound systems are available as options.

Harman Kardon Premium Sound System with 10 speakers and a 900 W amplifier. The extra watts compared to the standard system, the black-finish grille pattern on the door woofers with Harman Kardon logo, and the new 12-channel amplifier, together with a high-performance subwoofer, represent the best trade-off between sound clarity and performance.

Bowers & Wilkins Premium Surround Sound System for those who demand the finest hi-fi equipment. Maserati offers the Bowers & Wilkins Premium Surround Sound System, with 15 speakers, a 1,280 W amplifier and perfectly-configured QuantumLogic™ Surround.

The Bowers & Wilkins Premium Surround Sound System features a central 100 mm Kevlar cone for mid-range sound and three 25 mm tweeters at the centre and sides of the dashboard. The front doors house a 165 mm woofer and 100 mm Kevlar cone mid-range speaker, while the rear doors each carry a 165 mm Kevlar woofer and 25 mm tweeter. The rear shelf has two 100 mm Kevlar mid-ranges and a 315x200 mm subwoofer.

The system includes the Clari-Fi music restoration function as standard, which scans all types of compressed audio files for lost music details, intelligently corrects waveform deficiencies and restores high-fidelity by removing unwanted distortions.

Climate Control with Air Quality Sensor
The Ghibli is equipped with Air Quality Sensor, a feature that substantially improves the comfort of both the driver and passenger.

The system combines an intelligent sensor and a signal analysis system that calculates the external pollution levels and prevents polluted air and toxic gases from entering the cabin.

The air flow distribution control, which is fully separated for driver and front passenger, has been revised and is now more customizable. There is also a digital “sync" button for left and right side settings and a numeric display for the selected level on the fan power bar.

Keyless Entry
The aluminium key reflects the Ghibli style and incorporates Keyless Go technology that enables you to open the doors or boot via the handles, without touching the key fob. Once inside the car, all it takes is a press of the ignition button to bring the engine roaring to life.

Assisted Door Closure
Thanks to an electric actuator and a sensor that detects when the door is ajar, this system quietly draws each of the four doors to a close when left slightly open, increasing occupants' peace of mind and comfort, especially when there are children in the rear seats. It is also activated whenever the door is manually closed, ensuring it is properly shut.

Electrically Lockable Glovebox
A Valet Mode* is available on the touch screen menu that electrically locks the glovebox on the passenger’s side. In Valet Mode, the glovebox is only accessible by inserting a four-digit PIN.

Power Boot Lid with "Hands-Free" Control
Thanks to electric actuators and a motorised latch, it’s possible to open or close the lightweight boot lid automatically using the key fob, by pressing a button on the door panel or by just moving a foot underneath the rear bumper.

This function, particularly useful for accessing the boot when your hands are full, only works when the system detects the presence of your key, to ensure maximum security.

Chassis built around a steel cell
The Ghibli chassis has been precisely designed to meet the demands of dynamic performance and long distance comfort, required by Maserati drivers.

Based around a rigid and extremely secure steel cell, this chassis uses an array of different steel and aluminium alloys, each designated a precise task to maximize strength, minimize weight and retain the sports sedan’s perfect weight distribution.

The front of the chassis features an aluminium casting with a reinforced cross-strut which helps deliver outstanding rigidity in every direction, while the rear is made from rolled steel.

Accordingly, all four doors and the bonnet are made of aluminium. Ultra-light weight magnesium is used in the dashboard’s cross strut.

Brembo Dual Cast Brakes
Dual Cast technology, pioneered by Maserati, combines the strength of cast iron with the lightness of aluminium to reduce unsprung mass and, therefore, increase handling prowess. These brakes have a large swept area, highly efficient cooling and are designed for consistent performance in sports driving situations.

Ghibli Hybrid is fitted with Dual Cast 360x32 mm ventilated and cross-drilled brake discs with six-piston fixed alloy Brembo calipers on the front axle, while the rear axle is fitted with four-piston fixed alloy 345x28 mm Brembo calipers.

At a speed of 100 km/h, Ghibli Hybrid can stop in just 35.5 metres. But stopping power is only one measure of overall braking performance. The collaboration with Brembo also concentrated on optimising the acoustic comfort of the Ghibli’s braking systems. Besides being powerful, the Maserati brake calipers have also always added a significant touch of style. The Ghibli Hybrid has dark blue brake calipers.

Electric Power Steering (EPS)
Introduction of EPS (Electric Power Steering) has improved the car’s handling and comfort while better supporting the selectable driving modes and enabling the optionally available active Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.

With an electronically-controlled electric actuator on the rack and pinion steering, EPS is light, simple, low-maintenance, easier to fine-tune and doesn’t affect engine power. While retaining the razor-sharp handling typical of every Maserati, it offers improved feedback of road irregularities and peace of mind in parking and low-speed manoeuvres.

Driving Experience

Integrated Vehicle Control and ADAS
The Integrated Vehicle Control (IVC) function is incorporated in the Maserati Stability Program control for enhanced active safety and driving dynamics, while the optional active Advanced Driver Assistance Systems provide Level 2 autonomous driving technology.

By preventing - instead of simply correcting - errors which lead to a loss of car control, the Integrated Vehicle Control (IVC) system, developed in collaboration with Bosch, provides enhanced active safety and driving dynamics. It therefore also ensures unique performances and emotions at the wheel.

IVC uses a smart, feed-forward controller that predicts driving situations in advance and adapts the engine speed and brakes accordingly. IVC intervenes more smoothly and with less noise than a traditional ESP, ensures better car balance and traction at the limits of the car’s dynamics and employs intelligent torque vectoring to optimise lateral dynamics in a natural way even when MSP is off. In dynamic test manoeuvres, like slalom and lane change, IVC has demonstrated higher drive-through speed and improved racetrack lap times.

Maserati Stability Program (MSP)
Developed in the most extreme test conditions, the MSP uses a wide array of sensors for early detection and intervention. If skidding is detected, the system reduces the engine’s torque output and may activate the brakes with finely varied inputs to restore the car’s stability within milliseconds. The MSP integrates sub-systems such as ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR), Engine brake torque control (MSR), which prevents wheels from locking when downshifting on low-grip surfaces, Brake Assist System (BAS) and the Integrated Vehicle Control (IVC).

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
Level 2 ADAS, such as Highway Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, and Lane Keeping Assist mark a major step towards semi-autonomous driving. In the optional package is also included the efficient Traffic Sign Recognition.

Although ADAS are valuable assets for ensuring a safer driving experience, Maserati also remains faithful to its core philosophy as a manufacturer of race-bred grand touring cars with superior dynamics capable of offering an unparalleled driving experience. The introduction of the Active ADAS package in the Ghibli range makes the car even safer in a variety of traffic conditions, but the driver should remain 100% in control at all times.

Active Driving Assist: this is an evolution of Highway Assist, introduced with MY18. A “hands-on” function (the driver is required to stay in control of the car at all times), it is intended for use on any kind of well-maintained road. While previous versions were only usable on highways, today it is available on any well-maintained road at speeds up to 145 km/h with the Adaptive Cruise Control system activated: it reduces driver fatigue and consequently enhances active safety by allowing the car to keep itself centred in its lane and to adapt its pre-selected speed in full autonomy.

The system employs a radar unit and a forward-looking camera and works with the EPS to control the direction of the car. The multi-function camera detects horizontal road markings and calculates the distance and speed of the preceding vehicle. Highway Assist includes a radio that provides road information, and a ‘hands on wheel’ detection system. The driver can override the system at any time.

Lane Keeping Assist (LKA): it keeps the car centred in its lane with direct input to the Electric Power Steering while the instrument panel display shows the specific status. When the Visual & Haptic box is selected in the touchscreen display, LKA actively steps in with corrective steering torque.

LKA uses a forward-looking camera that detects lane markers to determine the car’s position, as well as a radar for data processing. The system works at speeds between 60 km/h and 180 km/h and when the indicators are on, it is deactivated.

Active Blind Spot Assist (ABSA): a system that attempts to prevent a collision during lane change by using two radar-based sensors to monitor blind spot areas. As well as providing an LED and acoustic warning, ABSA can communicate with the EPS to intervene with steering torque and prevent a possible collision.

Traffic Sign Recognition*: essentially, TSR prevents unintended speeding, providing the driver with real time information on the instrument panel about the current speed limit. Traffic Sign Recognition identifies speed limits for specific conditions, such as rain, fog or hour-specific limits, and uses map data from the navigation system to inform the driver in case actual signs are non-existent, invisible or not recognisable by the camera system.

Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function: when activated (between 30 and 210 km/h), ACC constantly monitors the space between the Ghibli and the vehicle ahead, maintaining a safe pre-set distance. If traffic slows or another vehicle moves in front, it slows the car down by making it coast or by engaging the brakes. Thanks to the Stop & Go function, the car will adjust to the target vehicle’s speed until it comes to a complete stop and will set off automatically if the stop is shorter than two seconds.

Forward Collision Warning Plus (FCW Plus): the FCW Plus system monitors vehicles ahead by means of a camera and warns the driver through visual and acoustic alerts when they are in danger of a possible rear-end collision.

Advanced Brake Assist (ABA): if the driver brakes and the system determines that they have not applied sufficient brake force, ABA will compensate for this.

Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB): AEB is an active system designed to avoid collision or minimise damage. A potential collision is identified by the ACC radar and a forward-looking camera. The driver is provided with visual and acoustic alerts as an early warning to start braking. If they do not take action, the system will brake autonomously to help slow the vehicle down and minimise the impact.

Rear-view camera with dynamic lines
Located above the number plate, the camera turns on automatically when the reverse gear is selected and shows the area behind the car on the new format high resolution display. The camera utilises the rear parking sensors to alert the driver both visually and acoustically about potential obstructions. The dynamic grid lines represent the maximum width of the car and its projected path based on the steering angle signal.

Surround View Camera
The Surround View Camera system, optional or standard depending on markets, uses four cameras in total – two lateral cameras housed underneath the side mirrors, as well as a forward- and rear-looking camera – to provide a clear 360° bird’s eye view of the car on the high-resolution display. It can be activated automatically by shifting into reverse gear, or manually via the button on the display. It provides five different selectable views. It also shows open doors and parking guide lines.

Rear Cross Path
This function issues alerts when reversing out of a parking space. It is intended to help drivers reverse out of parking spaces when their view of oncoming vehicles is blocked. Using sensors located on either side of the rear bumper, it detects any vehicles or objects moving towards the side of the vehicle at speeds between approximately 1 km/h and 16 km/h.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
TPMS is available as standard on all Ghibli versions. The system monitors the tyre pressure with a sensor mounted inside the rim as part of the valve. In the event of a puncture or a change in tyre pressure, the system notifies the driver with visual and acoustic warnings.

Active Speed Limiter
This function, available on all* Ghibli versions, allows the driver to set a maximum speed limit using a button on the steering wheel. If the driver decides to override the limit, they just have to ‘kick down’ and thus exceed the set speed.

Passive safety
To further enhance occupant safety, Maserati Ghibli Hybrid uses hot-formed steels in critical areas of the passenger compartment, while using aluminium in other areas to save weight.

In particular, the front of the passenger compartment features hot-moulded steel components, with a magnesium dashboard strut to save weight, while the rear is stiffened with high-strength steel. The crash bars at the front and rear of the car are made of extruded aluminium, while the doors and bonnet are in aluminium.

Maserati’s engineers added a third crash-load path to the front structure of the car to help dissipate load and distribute the forces on the car to guarantee the stability of the body structure in frontal impacts.

The Ghibli is equipped with seven airbags and anti-whiplash front headrests. At the front, two-stage airbags are concealed inside the steering wheel and dashboard to protect the head in frontal impact crashes, while a knee airbag protects the driver’s legs and reduces femur load in an impact.

The driver’s and front passenger’s chest and hips are further protected by the side airbags beneath the seat leather. The sides of their heads are protected by two head curtain airbags mounted in the roof of the car, next to the B-pillar. The curtain airbag protects the heads of the front and rear occupants against lateral impact.
