Maserati Multi 70 and Giovanni Soldini are back in Italy. New works planned on the trimaran in the name of technological innovation and the development of a cutting-edge configuration.

Modena, July 14th 2020 – Giovanni Soldini and Maserati Multi 70’s Team arrived today July 14th in La Spezia, after crossing the Atlantic Ocean. They set sail from Pointe-à-Pitre, in Guadeloupe, on July 1st and covered 4000 miles in 13 days. Soldini commented: «With the arrival in La Spezia Maserati Multi 70 completed its second trip around the world, now important news lay ahead of us!»

Aboard the trimaran, with Soldini, were Guido Broggi, Oliver Herrera Perez, Matteo Soldini, Gero Soldini and Gianni Randelli, who worked in the shipyard in Guadeloupe, for the maintenance that the trimaran needed after the races that took place last January and February. The Italian Team participated in the famous transoceanic race Cape2Rio, from South Africa to Brazil, and in the RORC Caribbean 600, around 11 islands in the Caribbean.

«We’re very happy to have brought Maserati Multi 70 back to Italy after two years and to have sailed with the MC20 mainsail for the first time in the Mediterranean», Soldini said. «Before setting sail we assembled the sheets under the net that we developed with the engineers from the Maserati Innovation Lab: they certainly made a significant contribution to the trimaran’s performance in this crossing. During the winter we will work long to set up a completely new configuration, it will be a big step forward for ocean flying boats. Since the first day of this adventure we have always focused on Maserati Multi 70’s technological development, and this continues today. Thanks to the valuable collaboration with the Maserati Innovation Lab, we aim to improve the trimaran’s performance both aerodynamically and hydrodynamically».

Giovanni Soldini and Maserati share the same values and desire to search for maximum performance, passion, courage and adrenaline since 2012. Soldini was the one to announce the name of Maserati’s new super sports car, displaying its logo on the trimaran’s mainsail: MC20 will be presented in Modena on September 9th.

The challenge is supported by Maserati, Main and Title Sponsor and Aon as co-sponsor, along with the official supplier for the clothing, Ermenegildo Zegna.

A special thanks also to Boero Bartolomeo S.p.A., Garmin Marine and Tarros.
